D & J Shady Rest Campground lives up to its name. We are a quiet wooded campground in the small town of Kirkwood which is in the heart of the Amish country located in Southern Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. When you enter the campground you feel the cooler temperature from the shade of the large hardwood trees. The campground is surrounded by beautiful countryside as well as numerous Amish Farms. You can watch Amish farmers working in their fields, children walking to school, and see some of the most spectacular sunsets from the campground.  Along the rural roads campers may  purchase home-grown vegetables, flowers and plants, home-made breads, freshly baked pies as well as hand-made items from local Amish owned roadside stands. We are 30 minutes from some of the most visited areas in the heart of Lancaster County Amish Country  including the outlet stores.  We are also 30 minutes from the Chesapeake Bay, Maryland with it's many boating and great dining locations.  Now if it is just a quiet, restful and relaxing time you desire we invite you to build a campfire, stretch out under one of our many shade trees and turn off the rest of the world for  awhile.

Firewood Transportation Prohibited

Burn it where you buy it.  No outside fire wood allowed brought into the campground to protect us from contracting disease or insects that will harm our trees.
